Volunteers Make it Happen
We can't do it without you! There are many ways to volunteer at or on behalf of Vero Beach's A Second Chance Thrift Store (ASC).
Volunteers can choose their area of interest, whether they volunteer as a cashier, answer phones, accept donations and write receipts, or greet customers as they come in.
Volunteers can be creative, such as setting up a Donation Drive in their community to collect items such as furniture and housewares. Recently there have been volunteer-organized Donation Drives at Grove Isle, Garden Grove, and Arbor Trace.
Volunteers are needed to help with:
- Accepting donations
- Sorting and hanging clothing
- Sorting and pricing linens
- Store merchandising
- Sorting and organizing books
- Customer service
We NEED you and we have FUN!

A Second Chance Thrift Store benefits families of the HOPE for Families Center.
While it's not required, we strongly recommend that a prospective volunteer take the "Wednesday Walk" tour at the HOPE for Families Center. The Center is the parent of A Second Chance, so by taking the tour you will get a sense of why your volunteering will change lives. The tour begins Wednesdays at 4 PM at the Administration Building, 720 4th St., Vero Beach, FL 32962. No reservation is required.
Anyone 16 years of age or older is invited to volunteer at A Second Chance Thrift Store.
Service Learning / Community Service Requirements
We also welcome those students who need to fulfill Service Learning requirements for high school or college. A Second Chance Thrift Store (ASC) participates in the Community Service program as required for the Florida Academic Scholars Award (FAS), the Florida Medallion Scholars Award (FMS), and the Gold Seal Vocation Scholars Award (GSV).
Students should contact Tamara Saxby at (772) 492-9333 for more information or to arrange for an interview.
